  2. Do you mean a harpy?
  3. Centaurs: Half human half horse Fauns: Half human half goat Gryphons: Head and body of a lion and the wings of an eagle. Sometimes has a human face. Satyr: Young humans that sometimes have horse ears. Minotaur: Half human half bull Harpies: Body of a human and the legs and wings of a bird Mantygre: The body of a tiger and the head of an old man with horns Manticore: The body and legs of a lion, the head of a man, and the tail of a scorpion, or dragon. 9. Mr. Pegg, my grade 10 English teacher.
  10. what bout jesus? hes half human and half mythical creature.
  11. You might want to read the The Mortal Instruments trilogy, beginning with City of Bones, then City of Ashes, then City of Glass (comes out in March...time, go faster!). My favorite, Magnus Bane, is half human, half demon, with cat's eyes and magical powers that he uses most frivously (round tables "for a meeting of table", Gilligan's Island reruns, etc). To answer your question, I believe that is a harpy (harpie?).
  12. There are literally thousands of such creatures in mythology, so you've got quite a search ahead of you. Some that come to mind (brackets are the non-human half of the creatures): Centaurs (horse) Nephilim (fallen angel) Satyr (goat) Minotaur (bull) Mermaid (fish/whale/whatever) Harpy (bird) Gorgon (snake) Sphynx (feline) Pan (also half goat) Hercules (half god) Jesus, to some extent, might be considered half human and half god.
  13. An angel is thought to have the body of a man and wings. Centaurs-torso and head of a man, body of a horse Fauns-torso and head of a man, legs and feet of a goat Harpies-bodies of women wings like bats Medusa-hair of snakes, body of a woman, lower body a snake
  14. Charles Darwin was half human and half ape. He was the "missing link" in his false theory of evolution he just didn't know it. I'm not sure what the scientific name would be for such a freak of nature.
  15. Look up a mythology book online. One really good one is Bulfinch's Mythology. I hope this helps you out. also, there are many sites on mythology online, just do a google on them :)
  16. As mentioned, harpies are half-bird, but always women and always evil Other half-birds: alkonost (Slavic) gamayun (Russian) guhin (Japanese) kinnara (Hindu) konoha-tengu (Japanese) siren (Greek) sirin (Slavic) tengu (Japanese) ⌘ http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com ⌘
  17. I don't know what this has to do with religion, but I'll see what I can do. Here are some commonly used chimeras (a chimera is a mythical creature composed of parts from at least two other, real creatures) with human components, in alphabetical order: - Angel (when depicted as a human with bird wings) (not usually considered a standard mythical creature for most purposes) - Centaur (horse body, legs and tail, human torso, arms and head) - Faun (human head, arms and upper torso, goat legs, tail and horns) - Gorgon (human head, arms and upper torso, snake tail in place of legs, snakes in place of hair) (sometimes called 'medusas', this is technically incorrect but has largely displaced 'gorgon' in recent times) - Harpy (bird body, legs, tail and wings, human head) - Kitsune (shapeshifter which can take on either human or fox forms, sometimes depicted with multiple tails and/or with tail(s) while in human form) - Mermaid (human head, arms and upper torso, fish tail in place of legs) - Minotaur (human body, arms and legs, cow head) - Naga (human head, arms and upper torso, snake tail in place of legs) (sometimes portrayed with more than two arms) - Siren (human head, bird legs and wings, other parts interchangeably human or bird depending on depiction) - Sphinx (lion body, legs and tail, human head) - Werewolf (shapeshifter which can take on either human or wolf forms, sometimes depicted as having human characteristics while in wolf form) In addition, there is of course nothing wrong with making up your own chimera and a name for it, provided you are able to tie them into your universe in a realistic and consistent way. You should generally avoid populating your universes with too many entirely new creatures, but using small numbers of new creatures, as well as subtly altering traditional creatures, is perfectly valid. All this depends on just what kind of story you're trying to write, too. >One in partucular that I'm looking for is the name of a half human, half bird, or a human with wings. In the field of traditional and well-known creatures, sirens and harpies are probably your best options for that particular purpose. Although both were traditionally depicted as evil creatures, sirens have been portrayed as less strictly evil in recent times, while harpies are still usually shown as nasty. Angels are also a possibility, or you could make up your own variation with its own unique name. If you want, you can read more about sirens and harpies here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpy
  18. Obamarang = half bull, half monkey.
