Hindu view of mystical experiences and apparitions?

What is the Hindu view of mystical experiences and apparitions? Does God and do other spiritual creatures reveal themselves to some? What about thin places -- do they play a part in Hinduism?

1. Visions and such are more a part of the evangelical theme. Although mythology is replete with revelations, there are no such mystical experiences in modern day Hinduism that have been accorded any credibility. Hinduism at the core philosophy level does not entertain any such notions. But then, in Hinduism, the entire life is in a thin place. And I suppose, it could validate unplugging out of the matrix (mayajaal) momentarily.
